Please join us as we honor him as the 2006 Occidental Businessperson of the Year, and hear him speak on "Shattering the Shibboleths: Transforming Fear and Risk into Profit and Opportunity."  In addition, Occidental's new President, Susan Prager, will be in attendance and will give a brief presentation.

Chris Varelas (Class of '85), Global Head of Technology, Media and Telecom Investment Banking and Head of the National Investment Bank for Citigroup (the largest investment bank in the world) will discuss the many challenges facing today's largest corporations and how he and his team have successfully advised them to thrive in volatile markets. Under Chris' management, Citigroup has architected many of the most important strategic transactions over the past decade including AOL/Time Warner, HP/Compaq, Oracle/Peoplesoft, IBM/PriceWaterhouse Consulting, Nokia/Siemens Networks Divisions and the Restructuring of Orange County during its bankruptcy proceedings, as well as hundreds of others spanning all sectors and geographies.
