Marriott's Voice Genesis, Inc., Launches "Vemail VoiceEmail" on Verizon Wireless and Alltel Mobile Phones - May 2005.  

OBA member Mark J. Marriott '89 announced the launch of "Vemail VoiceEmail" on Verizon Wireless and Alltel mobile phones.  The product is voice enabled email for mobile phones.  Users can not only retrieve, read, and type email with the mobile phones, but also create email by speaking with their mobile phones.  The launch is the culmination of three and a half years of development by Voice Genesis, Inc., the company founded by Marriott in 2001 to create new and innovative mobile messaging solutions that are easy to use.  The company finished raising its 2nd round of capital in June and has so far raised $1.65 million.  


Woolsey Announces PowerhouseGym.com - August 2001.  

OBA member Jon Woolsey '71 announced the launch of PowerhouseGym.com, the first real fitness facility site to build an online community with interactive fitness and nutrition programs, an extensive library of news articles, professionally monitored bulletin boards, pro shops, a match making service and a gym locator that leads you to professionally designed sites for every club in the Powerhouse system. Designed and developed by Powerhouse Gyms International in cooperation with PWR Fitness LLC, this extensive site offers gym members and fitness enthusiasts a complete portal to satisfy all of their healthy lifestyle needs. Woolsey co-founded PWR in November 2000. He has enjoyed marketing and sales vice president positions for design, promotion and marketing firms and served as corporate counsel for a national franchise software company in the legal services industry.


Castner To Run Western Operations For Dialight - October 2000

OBA member John Castner '81 has joined Dialight - a manufacturer of LED indicators and lighting systems - as its Western Regional Manager, covering 13 states. Dialight's LED technology is rapidly replacing incandescent traffic signals throughout California, especially in light of the current power crisis. "Our products are typically 90% more energy efficient than existing incandescent sources," Castner reports. Dialight will be fulfilling part of a CalTRANS initiative to retrofit 160,000 traffic signals by June 2001.


Garner Consulting And Kennedy Insurance Services Merge - May 2000

OBA board member John Garner '71 is pleased to announce that Kennedy Insurance Services has merged with his firm, Garner Consulting. Kennedy Insurance Services has specialized in employee benefit brokerage services for small and mid-sized groups, as well as health and life insurance for individuals. This merger will provide enhanced small group services within the firm, as well as an opportunity for Kennedy Insurance Services clients to access comprehensive resources and some of the nation’s leading employee benefit consultants.
